Chayanne’s Timeless Charm Shines in San Antonio for his “Bailemos Otra Vez” tour
Chayanne, born Elmer Figueroa Arce on June 28, 1968, is a well-known Puerto Rican singer, dancer, and actor. With a career spanning over four decades, he’s gained fame for his energetic performances, charismatic stage presence, and romantic ballads. He rose to stardom in the 1980s with hits like "Fiesta en América" and "Tu Pirata Soy Yo," and has continued releasing popular albums and singles over the years. In addition to music, Chayanne has also acted in telenovelas and films, solidifying his status as a beloved figure in Latin entertainment. His passion and timeless appeal have made him a favorite across generations.
For “La Clave” and “Baila Baila,” Chayanne was joined on stage by dancers who performed synchronized choreography. The dancers wore striking red and black outfits: the men in half-black, half-red suits matching the red dresses of the women. Afterward, Chayanne took a brief break for a costume change while the dancers entertained the crowd. When he returned to perform “Y Tú Te Vas,” the stage was bathed in red light, with visuals of tree branches and falling leaves on the screen. Chayanne, now wearing a sleeveless black jacket, stood illuminated by a spotlight.
Mid-show, Chayanne expressed heartfelt gratitude to the audience, taking about five minutes to give a speech. He spoke about the challenges of the pandemic and how it affected both him and his fans, mentioning the struggle of being isolated and not knowing when he would be able to tour again. “Se siente muy bonito estar aquí, se siente muy bonito porque lo que se recibe es muy especial, y yo lo hago por todos ustedes, yo trabajo por ustedes,” he said, adding that his work doesn’t feel like work because of his fans. He acknowledged the mothers, grandmothers, fathers, and children in the crowd and called for unity, giving shout-outs to countries across Latin America and Mexico. Chayanne continued his thanks by recognizing his on-stage team and those working behind the scenes, praising their "beautiful work." He introduced each team member by name, and the audience cheered as their images appeared on the big screen.
Chayanne's charm was undeniable, creating a night that radiated both love and energy, filled with dancing to ballads and bachata. His affection for his fans was clear, as he continually visited those at the barricade, and even those further off to the side at a higher level. At one point, he brought a fan on stage during “Bailemos Bachata,” dancing with her and giving her a warm hug before she left. Throughout the night, he engaged the crowd, encouraging them to repeat after him and join in a crowd wave.
His dance moves, seamlessly paired with his singing, were truly impressive—a talent that cannot be denied. It was definitely a night San Antonio will never forget, and one that will always welcome Chayanne back with open arms.
