Retro Cowgirl is a rock band based in Texas, blending robust guitar melodies, vibrant drums, and stunning vocals, crafting a contemporary rendition of 1970s and 2000s rock. With Lucky Steele as the vocalist frontwoman, Luis Fiallos as lead guitarist, Salvatore Sissa as anchor guitar, Gabe Jimenez as bassist, and Jonluca Biagini as drummer.

On Saturday, February 3rd, the band introduced the night at Stable Hall in San Antonio, Texas, as the red curtain rose revealing them and their set. Lively purple, blue, and red lights illuminated the stage, as the crowd expressed their excitement and eagerness for the show to begin. The chemistry between Retro Cowgirl was very evident, from Lucky Steele singing her way, back-to-back with Luis, from behind the shoulder with Salvatore, putting on a leopard print hat on Gabe, and holding the microphone for Jonluca to introduce the next song. But also, present between them and the crowd, Lucky Steele maintaining eye contact with those singing along and acknowledging them. During their song “Stronger,” Luis Fiallos began his guitar solo on stage and continued it offstage, weaving through the crowd as they applauded and cheered him on. Another highlight of the night was when Retro Cowgirl performed their new song, “Roots,” that released on February 7th. Additionally, they also played some of their songs such as “Caroline”, “The Whole Damn Cake”, “Timesheet Blues”, “If Words Could Kill”, and “Honey”.

Elijah Delgado, from Austin, Texas, as the second performance of the night, brought the alternative/indie vibes. His band, Elik Jazdzewski on electric and upright bass guitar, Jordan Espinoza on drums, and Evan Anderson on guitar as well. Elijah with his soothful vocals was a beautiful balance when Elik would come in for his melodic solo, such as in “Pipe Dream”, from dropping down on his knees at the edge of the stage to standing and jumping around. To the point of even being on his back on the floor and banging his head in the air for other solos during the setlist. Other singles and EPs they played included “Too Late”, “Planets”, “Plastic Skies”, and “Grow”. His heartfelt delivery of his lyrics invited listeners to immerse themselves fully in an emotional journey.

Jefferson Clay, also from Austin, Texas, focuses on an indie-pop style, his story emerges from the pandemic times where he released his first few singles in 2020. His passion initiated when he was the University of Texas in Austin, Texas where he fell in love with music writing and production and began to perform in local bars and clubs.

Jefferson made an initial impression by wearing a black sparkly jacket where the lights reflected off from all angles, contributing to a dreamy look. The fans were feeling groovy and were dancing along, as he opened the night with his new single “Supernatural”, which had just leased the day before. A new single release concert and party if you will. “People IDK Yet”, and “Do I go down smooth?” had the audience also dancing in their spot or with others, like their friends and family. Simultaneously on vocals and guitar, he would encourage the crowd’s energy to join him to sing, repeating lyrics back to him. At the end of the performance he and his band took a group bow, thanking everyone for coming out.
