Still Woozy is the stage name of Sven Gamsky, an American singer, songwriter, and producer from Oakland, California. He gained recognition for his unique blend of indie pop, R&B, and electronic music, characterized by smooth vocals, catchy melodies, and a laid-back, lo-fi production style. Before adopting the moniker Still Woozy, Gamsky played in a math rock band called Feed Me Jack, which disbanded in 2016. He then started releasing music as a solo artist, quickly building a fanbase through singles that showcased his distinctive sound.

Still Woozy's music career took off with the release of his debut single "Vacation" in 2017, followed by a series of successful singles like "Cooks," "Goodie Bag," and "Lucy," which featured collaborations with other artists. His tracks gained significant traction on streaming platforms, leading to millions of plays and a growing online following. In 2019, Still Woozy released his debut EP, Lately, which further solidified his presence in the indie music scene. His sound is often described as genre-blending, incorporating elements of indie pop, R&B, funk, and electronic music. His production style is characterized by a DIY approach, often recording and producing his tracks in his home studio. Gamsky's music is known for its dreamy, relaxed vibe, with lyrics that explore themes of love, relationships, and introspection. His influences range from classic rock and jazz to contemporary artists like Tame Impala and Frank Ocean.

Still Woozy's newest album, "Loveseat", was released on June 28, 2024. This album marks an evolution in his sound and lyrical approach, showcasing a blend of introspective themes and upbeat, eclectic production. Still Woozy answered questions about his music creation process to a bit of a history lesson on the band Feed Me Jack.

At the recent conference, Still Woozy shared valuable insights into the creation of his latest album, Loveseat. His responses provided a glimpse into his artistic process, inspirations, and thoughts on collaboration.

The cover art for Loveseat holds a special place in Still Woozy's heart, as it was inspired by his wife. She played a significant role in shaping the album's visual representation, and her influence is clearly evident in the artwork.

When discussing the artists who inspired him for this album, Still Woozy highlighted a blend of older music and contemporary sounds. He mentioned the classic sound of The Beatles, the warmth of Marvin Gaye's records, and the synth textures of Tame Impala as key influences.

The placement of the title track, "Loveseat," was a thoughtful decision influenced by his manager. Originally positioned three-quarters of the way through the album, it was moved to the end to ensure a cohesive flow and maintain the album's energy. This change aimed to create a compatible and engaging listening experience from start to finish.

Still Woozy shared his mindset on working with other artists, emphasizing that it needs to be the right fit and feel organic. While he has been part of collaborative projects in the past, he noted that sometimes the vision can become diluted. Typically, he prefers working alone in his home studio. Although open to collaborations, he is not actively seeking them out at the moment. When it comes to producing his songs, Still Woozy's approach is fluid and varies from track to track. He often begins with piano parts or guitar chords, building on a groove or "pocket" that he discovers during the process. He doesn't follow a set formula, allowing chance and spontaneity to play significant roles in his music creation.
